December 5th, 2017 – The Flint Women’s Forum Board met for their December Meeting at Redwood Lodge. They discussed this month’s Membership meeting coming up on the 19th and selected the YWCA to be the recipient of charitable giving project in lieu of a monthly speaker.

They also discussed a possibility of taking on the first ever in Flint, Women’s Statue. The idea is to feature Rosie the Riveter. According to Wikipedia, Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon of World War II, representing the women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II, many of whom produced munitions and war supplies. We are still working on more details and will be speaking with the general membership soon.

August 15, 2017 – August Monthly Luncheon, Special Location St. Luke’s New Life Center
We all took a VIP tour of the facility, including the sewing area where Stormy Kromer products are made. We were able to learn about all the ways the Center is changing lives in our community.

August, 2017 – Service Project
The Flint Women’s Forum decided as a group to adopt a room at the YWCA. The group was able to decorate a waiting/sitting room this past Friday, August 25th. The inspiration for the room came from one of our amazing members, Dawn Crichton owner of SmARTee Paints, with her beautiful painting of a beach side. Along with a large donation from Skaff Furniture Carpet One Floor and Home the members were able to make this space really pop, feel warm and have a ton of inviting character.
